About Tree Alonia by Katsompenakis Family

Tree Alonia olive oil was produced by Katsobenakis family from trees of their own olive groves. The farm is situated to the West of Chania in the village Trialonia of the municipality of Kissamos. Manolis Katsobenakis, heir of family farm and successor of a thousand-year tradition of olive growing in Crete. For many years, the Katsobenakis have been cultivating Koroneiki, a variety of olive trees considered superior in quality to the oil with excellent aroma. The test of oil is not tart, no bitter or too spicy. Along with the aroma of dried herbs, fruity notes are strongly felt, the aftertaste of a green apple is mixed with the aroma of honey and mint. For taste of its oil, rich and nobile, Koroneiki is called “The Queen of Olive Trees”. The fruits of Koroneika are smaller than those of other varieties, but they have the highest quality oil yield. Trees are pruned intensively once a year to keep them small, so no more than 3 to 5 liters of oil can be obtained from each tree. Quantity is sacrificed for quality. From generation to generation, the Katsobenakis family passes on their skills, traditions, experience and passion in caring for the trees, obtaining the highest quality Extra Virgin Tree Alonia olive oil without any artificial additives interventions. This oil is very high in polyphenols and antioxidants that support our immune system, and is highly valued in a diet that protects the heart and reduces the risk of cancer.
